The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has numerous online resources relating to special education issues which can be useful to parents navigating the special education process. The site also includes a full staff directory for VDOE (including specialists that are disability specific).

Parent Education Advocacy Training Center (PEATC) serves as the state Parent Information Resource Center and Parent Training and Information Center (programs funded in each state through the US Department of Education).  More information about services offered by PEATC is available on the Parent Advocacy Training Center website

George Mason University Helen A. Kellar Center for Human disAbilities , 4400 University Drive, MS 1F2, Fairfax, VA 22030 (703) 993-3670 is the Region 4 Virginia Training and Technical Advisory Center (TTAC) , which serves Northern Virginia.  The center is grant funded through VDOE.  Parents and professionals have access to training as well as the technical advisory center, which has an extensive library. Books can be checked out from the Helen A. Keller Institute of Human disAbilities library online.
